Daniel Margulis, Director, Programming and Acquisitions, ESPNU
Daniel Margulis has served as director, programming and acquisitions for ESPNU since April 2006. In his current role, Margulis oversees all programming and scheduling for ESPNU, including college football, men’s and women’s basketball, lacrosse, softball, baseball and more.
Additionally, he manages the programming for ESPN RISE and other high school sports content on the ESPN networks. Based at the ESPNU production headquarters in Charlotte, N.C., Margulis is also responsible for developing and implementing ESPNU content across ESPN’s digital media platforms.
In addition, Margulis was responsible for launching ESPNU Campus Connection, ESPN’s student-generated content initiative, in January 2008. Since launching the program, over 100 schools have participated in various capacities, including sideline reporting and producing games and special segments for the ESPN family of networks.
Margulis had previously worked for ESPN and ABC Sports from 1993 to 1999 in various programming positions.
Prior to re-joining ESPN, Margulis worked for the NFL Network as director of programming and acquisitions from 2003-2006. While there, Margulis assisted in the launch of the new network and oversaw its programming schedule.
Margulis also worked as director of programming at the YES Network where he was instrumental in scheduling and developing original programming around the network’s launch.
Margulis is a 1992 graduate of Amherst College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. While in school, he played water polo and was co-captain of the team. In 1993, he received his master’s degree in sports management from the University of Massachusetts.
