Joel Kitay, President, Kitay Productions
Joel Kitay is a four-time Emmy Award-winning television producer and owner of a video production company that specializes in producing video scoreboard shows, short- and long-form television programs, and live game broadcasts and Webcasts.  With offices in both New York and Baltimore, Kitay Productions’ clients include the Washington Redskins, Boston University, Towson University, Army, Columbia University, University of Maryland, American University, CBS College Sports, Comcast SportsNet, and more.
After graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Boston University in 1994, Joel’s television production career began at NFL Films in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, where he was hired as a production assistant on network shows and home video titles. A year later, Kitay jumped at a unique opportunity to return to his hometown to work for the Cleveland Browns football team as its first-ever full-time television producer. When the Cleveland Browns re-located to Baltimore and became the Ravens in 1996, Joel was a key player in building the team’s in-house production department, now known as RaveTV.
Kitay worked for six more years as a staff member of the Ravens, rising to the position of Manager of Broadcasting, and his tenure yielded many unique experiences that paved the way to the creation of his own production company.  Joel produced pre-season game broadcasts, weekly team shows, features, commercials, and video scoreboard programming. In 2000, Kitay accompanied the Ravens on their run to Super Bowl XXXV, broadcasting a show live from Tampa the night before the title game, and following that effort by assisting NFL Films with production of the first edition of the renowned HBO series, “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Baltimore Ravens,” in 2001.
In 2002, Joel left the Ravens on a full-time basis to open Kitay Productions, Inc., and the company immediately inked a multi-year deal to serve as the production firm operating the first-ever video scoreboard systems at the University of Maryland for football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball games. In 2001-2002, Kitay produced the official commemorative home videos for both the Terrapins’ ACC Championship football team and NCAA Championship men’s basketball team.
Since then, the company has expanded on an annual basis, and its recent highlights include serving as executive producer of the Washington Redskins video scoreboard show, directing and editing the “Jim Zorn Show,” designing and operating the video scoreboard system at Agganis Arena at Boston University, producing the video scoreboard show for Towson University, the first FCS school to install a high definition video scoreboard, producing the “Gary Williams Show” for the University of Maryland and “Eye on the Eagles” for American University, producing live college sporting events for Comcast SportsNet, and producing short- and long-form shows for the CBS College Sports Network, including “One2One: Lane Kiffin,” “One2One: Urban Meyer,” and “Inside the Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions.”
A married father of two, Joel and his family are residents of Long Island, New York, but Joel splits his time among many client sites, as well as his Baltimore and New York offices.
